Bridgestone to lay off 158 in La Vergne; may cut 500 (The Tennessean) Bridgestone plans to lay off 158 workers at its La Vergne tire plant effective Dec. 21, and is considering ending production of passenger-car and light-truck tires there altogether, which could cut 500 jobs, the company said Monday.
